Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Motorcoach to Indianapolis. Fly to Fairbanks, our home for two nights.
Day 2 This morning, enjoy a city tour of Fairbanks. Stop at the Alaskan pipeline. Visit the University of Alaska Museum of the North to view exhibits on wildlife, gold, northern lights, and more. Afternoon cruise down the Chena and Tanana Rivers aboard the Riverboat Discovery. Visit a recreated Athabaskan Indian village where natives will teach you about their way of life. This evening enjoy the Alaska Salmon Bake at Pioneer Park.
Day 3 Travel on the world famous Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks to Denali National Park. This afternoon, explore Denali National Park on a Tundra Wilderness Tour searching for bear, moose, caribou, sheep, and many others. Overnight at Denali.
Day 4 Today, board your motorcoach as you travel south to Alaska's largest city, Anchorage. En route, enjoy a visit to Happy Trails Kennels, home of four time Iditarod Winner, Martin Buser. Learn about the life and art of dog mushing in Alaska and meet sled dog puppies. Continue to Anchorage for overnight.
Day 5 Time to walk, sightsee, or shop in downtown Anchorage. Motorcoach to Seward along Turnagain Arm, then travel through a small portion of the Kenai Peninsula prior to boarding Holland America for our southbound cruise. Our next seven nights are onboard the ms Statendam.
Day 6 At Sea: Scenic cruising to view the 16 glaciers of College Fjord. The fjord contains five tidewater glaciers, five large valley glaciers, and dozens of smaller glaciers, most named after renowned East Coast colleges.
Day 7 At Sea: Scenic cruising of Glacier Bay National Park. Glorious glaciers and mystical fjords. A pristine Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site. Discover primeval nature, perfect and untamed.
Day 8 Haines: Everything you dreamed Alaska would be. Rich in Tlingit culture and located on the shores of the Lynn Canal.
Day 9 Juneau: Cosmopolitan charm and rich history are nestled between the stunning wilderness of the national Forest and the bountiful waters of the Inside Passage. See Mendenhall Glacier and many other natural and historic sights on the city tour. Later, on your own, visit the State Capital, Alaska State Historical Center, or shop.
Day 10 Ketchikan: Once the fishing capital of Alaska. Walk Creek Street, the picturesque city's long-ago, but not forgotten red light district, now transformed from ill-repute into reputable shops, galleries, and museums. Option: Bering Sea Crab Fishermen's tour.
Day 11 At Sea: Today is our last day of cruising the Inside Passage. Time to take more pictures, walk the decks, watch for wildlife of the sea, or just sit and relax.
Day 12 Fly to Indianapolis. Motorcoach to Terre Haute.
